A few thoughts from General Conference October 2014...
We got to spend General Conference weekend at Ben & Allysha's home...which was so fun! Our main goal was to spend time together watching, learning and listening to conference so the Spirit could teach us while we found answers that we were seeking. I have appreciated so much another opportunity to ask Heavenly Father what He would have me do, and then prepare to hear Him. Steve & Ben were able to attend the Priesthood Session and then we all enjoyed the traditional "dinner with the family." As our family is growing, I feel very grateful for times we have together and the love our children show for each other. I loved all the talks that were shared but I just want to share a part of Richard G. Scott's address. He shared with us 4 tools that should become habits in our lives.
They are:
*Prayer~we need to share our full range of emotion with Him and converse with Him often! Family prayer should be a non-negotiable activity in our daily life!
*Study the scriptures~all will be made right according to God's timing!
*Family Home Evening~Don't let anything else become more important, the structure shouldn't be more important than the time invested. FHE is a time to spend together, build relationships and actually talk with one another!
*Go to the temple! Don't let anyone OR anything prevent you from being there!
I know that if we are willing to make these habits in our lives, we will be blessed and our families will be blessed. Our children will have the strength and protection they need to overcome the challenges they face in the world. Feeling so Blessed!
